Who doesn’t love a great St. Patrick’s Day party? This year, invite your friends to enjoy a party in your apartment. With a few party favors, great food and celebratory games, you’re set to have the best St. Patrick’s Day ever.

St Patrick's Day

Wear Green

Ireland’s known as the Emerald Isle, and mischievous leprechauns won’t see you if you’re wearing green. Make sure the party invitations remind everyone to wear green!

Provide Party Favors

Break the ice by offering your guests a party favor as they arrive. Provide leprechaun hats, green necklaces or bracelets and even green face paint. With these party favors, your guests can unwind and enjoy themselves.

Serve Green Foods

Satisfy your guests with a table full of delectable green foods. If you would rather not serve green foods, you can add green food coloring to some of your favorite dishes.

Start with appetizers. Spinach or avocado dip compliments a green vegetable tray filled with cucumbers, peppers, celery, broccoli and snow peas.

Consider also serving delicacies like boiled cabbage, cloverleaf rolls or minted carrots. You could also prepare:

  • Brussels sprouts
  • Lima beans
  • Collard greens
  • Fried zucchini

For the main course, try lamb with mint jelly, corned beef or ham. These meats taste great sliced or in a sandwich with rye bread and sauerkraut.

Green beverages compliment your meal. For your drinking friends, serve green beer and offer them the spare room or a cab for after the party. Offer Irish coffee, mint tea, green punch or iced green tea for your non-drinking friends.

Finish the meal with green desserts.

  • Pistachio pudding
  • Mint ice cream
  • Cookies or cupcakes with green frosting
  • Lime jello
  • Key lime pie

Decorate your Apartment

You don’t have to spend a fortune or go overboard in your decorations, but you definitely want to scatter several green items around your apartment.

  • Start with your apartment door. Wrap it with green paper. Then, hang a wreath made out of green paper shamrocks glued to a top hat.
  • Next, fill green baskets with raw potatoes. Glue green paper shamrocks to a skewer, and poke the shamrocks into the potatoes.
  • Finally, hang green streamers around your apartment and attach green balloons to the streamers. These decorations welcome guests and create a party atmosphere in your apartment.

Play Irish Games

After dinner, entertain your guests with a few games.

Work off your meal with a little dancing. Throughout the evening, play Celtic music. After dinner, challenge your guests to a dance-off. The last person standing or the one with the best Irish jig wins.

Test your Irish luck with poker themed entertainment. Play for green jellybeans or chocolate coins wrapped in gold paper. You could also ask Irish trivia questions to give guests a chance to earn candy prizes.

St. Patrick’s Day is a great holiday to celebrate with friends. Schedule a party at your place, and have fun being Irish for a day.
